Welcome to the weekly update 👋 This is your one-stop spot for everything happening in our church family. From kids to adults, small groups to special events, here's how you can get connected over the next seven days. This Sunday, October 18: Prayer Team: Meets in the Family Room at 9:30a (anyone can join) 10:00am Worship Gathering: Join us for Sunday service in person or online. Kids Ministry: Age-specific programming during the service each Sunday Wednesday, October 21: Women’s Wednesday morning group meets in the Welcome Center at 10am. BEMA group meets in the Conference Room at 6:30pm - anyone can join Upcoming Events: Chili Cook Off and Fall Hangout: November 1, following the morning service. Men’s Breakfast - November 7 at 8am in the Welcome Center HAVERHILL ROAD CLOSURE: closed to through traffic EACH DIRECTION from 5-7:30 am/pm every day until Oct 19. 📸 Your gifts have a place in this family—even behind a camera! Let Pastor Corey know! Chili Cook Off and Fall Hangout Plan to stay after service on Sunday, November 1 for our Chili Cookoff, cinnamon rolls, and some hedge-apple chuckin’ out in the field! Want to enter a chili? Sign up and let us know what you’re bringing. You absolutely do not have to bring anything to come — we just want everyone to stay, eat, laugh, and spend some time together. The church will provide cinnamon rolls, Fritos, sour cream, cheese, drinks, and everything else. Men’s Breakfast - November 7 at 8am Guys, join us for breakfast in the Welcome Center at Real Life! See Kevin Edwards for more information.Let Us Know You're Coming We’re continuing to work a yard at a time toward replacing carpet throughout much of Real Life. The project works out to about $32 per square yard, and we’re starting with the Fellowship and Family Rooms. On Wednesday of this last week we ordered enough carpet for the Fellowship room, Family room and Conference room! 🎉 We also finished the drop ceiling in the Fellowship room! So far, we’re received enough to cover 81 square yards.Help Us Cover A Lot Of Ground Watch last week’s message 👇 The brown out last Sunday prevented us from using audio/video or recording, livestreaming the service. But Pastor Corey went ahead and recorded a condensed version from his office this week in case you weren’t here last Sunday or want to refresh before part 3 on October 25. A black out is when the power goes completely out—a brown out is when the electricity coming into the building (from Evergy) is significantly reduced. So while we had some lights, they operated about about half their normal output. This situation can be very damaging to electronics so all of our tech shut down. We were unable to use any stage lighting, microphones, audio equipment or computers. The band scrambled and put together some songs they could do acoustically (good job band) and we had service like we were back in the 1900’s. 🤣 Thanks everyone for sticking it out and shifting so well in a moment of crisis.Subscribe To Our Podcast If you are interested in Women’s Ministry Events please subscribe to the Women’s Ministry Posts. Blankets are donated to those in the hospital or baby blankets are delivered to Branches Pregnancy Centers and other organizations. If you’d like to help make blankets or want info email Jessica Pyle. If you’d like to stop and pray over the blankets we have they are in the Family Room Care Team: Our Care Team meets with individuals following the service who are seeking prayer or wanting to take their next step with Jesus. If you’re good with people and have a heart to pray with and walk with people in that moment when God is stirring in their heart this might be a great ministry opportunity for you. For more information email Terry Cleaning Team: This team helps us create a clean and welcoming environment for our guests and regulars who come to the building each week. A clean church shows our thankfulness for what God has provided and removes stumbling blocks to those we welcome to worship every Sunday and throughout the week. Masonry work on East Wall Painting the newly completed drywall work Drop ceiling removed in South part of room Drop ceiling installed in South part of room and along West wall New carpet is being chosen - lead time is 6-7 weeks New carpet installed Electrical fixed in South part of room New base moulding installed Stage built and sound/video installed We appreciate your continued financial and physical support as we work to finish this space out so that ministry that leads to transformation can begin to take place in this previously unused part of the building. This Sunday, October 11th: Prayer Team: Meets in the Family Room at 9:30a (anyone can join) 10:00am Worship Gathering: Join us for Sunday service in person or online. Kids Ministry: Age-specific programming during the service each Sunday Wednesday, October 14th: Women’s Wednesday morning group meets in the Welcome Center at 10am. BEMA group meets in the Conference Room at 6:30pm - anyone can join Upcoming Events: HAVERHILL ROAD CLOSURE: closed to through traffic EACH DIRECTION from 5-7:30 am/pm every day until Oct 19. According to correspondence with BuCo the Haverhill road expansion between Towanda and 40th should begin sometime around Summer or Fall of 2027. The expansion is supposed to widen those two miles of Haverhill from 2 lanes to 4. The Weather Will Eventually Turn... El Niño is about to hit record breaking temps—higher than ever recorded in 76 years. What that means for Fall and Winter here in Kansas has yet to be seen but I do know one thing, until Jesus returns “cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease” (Gen 8:22). What does this mean for us at Real Life? Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas are all lining up as our staff plans for our best Fall yet! This Sunday morning we’ll share information about the first even. 🌶️🎉 If you love Real Life help others find it! Our recently created Google profile had 128 interactions in September. By leaving a star review, or better yet, a written review (bonus points for pictures), Google surfaces our church to more people searching for connection, a church home or just what to do in the Augusta/ElDo area. You can help people find real life in Jesus just by leaving us a review - how cool is that?!Leave Us a 5 ★ Google Review! Pastor Corey • Colossians 3:17, 22-24; Luke 16:10-13 Jesus teaches us to pray, “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done.” Purpose is not usually found in one dramatic destiny moment. It is lived as our work, relationships, money, words, decisions, and treatment of others come under the reign of Jesus. Our ordinary lives become Kingdom work when we choose honesty, generosity, service, mercy, and faithfulness. The real life Jesus gives us is not separate from normal life. It is normal life lived through the Holy Spirit’s power as we daily surrender to the King. You don’t have to be in the room to make an impact. You can prepare a meal, join the meal rotation, or give money to help others prepare the meal. When you feed students, you’re not just filling plates—you’re creating space for God to work. Sunday, November 1 • Right after service Stay after church for chili, cinnamon rolls, and some hedge-apple chuckin’ out in the field. You do not have to bring chili—or anything else—to come. We just want everyone to stay, eat, laugh, and spend some time together. But we DO want to know you’re coming to help us plan for food and space.I'm Coming for Chili and Fun! Want to enter the Chili Cookoff? Bring a full crockpot of chili, hot and ready to serve. When you sign up, let us know you want to enter a chili and then we’ll ask for: your chili’s name whether it’s mild, medium, or hot a short description any allergy information people should know We’ll have placards for each chili and everyone will get a chance to vote for their favorite.I Want to Enter My Chili! What the church is providing We’ll have: cinnamon rolls Fritos sour cream shredded cheese drinks bowls, spoons, and everything else you need So again, you don’t have to bring anything to stay and eat. Serving and giving go beyond filling roles and paying bills. God uses them to shape us and the people we reach. Helping every person possible takes every person present. We’re starting with the Fellowship and Family rooms. If you’d like to help, you can give toward one yard, five yards, ten yards—or any amount. Every gift helps us improve the spaces where people gather, worship, learn, build relationships, and follow Jesus together. You’ve given enough to cover 56 square yards! Pastor Corey • Revelation 1:4-18 We’re wrapping up the Names of God series this Sunday - John writes Revelation to churches facing pressure, uncertainty, compromise, and fear. He reaches backward into Israel’s Scriptures to help them understand where they are standing and trust God with what they cannot yet see. But it’s more than just feeding their bodies, it’s providing them with a sense of belonging. As they eat they talk, they laugh, they share... and they grow closer together. You don’t have to be in the room to make an impact. You can prepare a meal, join the meal rotation, or give money to help others prepare the meal. When you feed students, you’re not just filling plates—you’re creating space for God to work. Blankets are donated to those in the hospital or baby blankets are delivered to Branches Pregnancy Centers and other organizations. If you’d like to stop and pray over the blankets we have they are in the Family Room Care Team: Our Care Team meets with individuals following the service who are seeking prayer or wanting to take their next step with Jesus. If you’re good with people and have a heart to pray with and walk with people in that moment when God is stirring in their heart this might be a great ministry opportunity for you. For more information email Terry Cleaning Team: This team helps us create a clean and welcoming environment for our guests and regulars who come to the building each week. A clean church shows our thankfulness for what God has provided and removes stumbling blocks to those we welcome to worship every Sunday and throughout the week. The Food Pantry is available to anyone at Real Life who may need help with a meal or more between paychecks or when struggling for various reasons. Community Prayer Thank you all for the prayers, concern and help last week after Aly went missing. She was found safe and was back home Monday morning. It’s a reminder that everybody’s dealing with something, It may not always be visible and it may not always make sense to others. Real Life’s band will be playing about 8 songs this Friday night as part of the Battle of the Praise Bands at Gold Fest ‘26. They’d love to have your support at the event (our band takes the stage at 9p) but more than that would you pray for our musicians and singers? I need to apologize: Last Sunday, after pointing everyone to myreallife.faith and telling you to check out the message notes for Adonai it turns out that I forgot to publish them 🤦♂️ - they were all there, all ready, but I had forgotten to schedule them to go live on Sunday at 9am like I usually do. They are live now and I’m sorry if you went there and found the notes for El Shaddai instead of Adonai. There’s a Place for You God uses spiritual disciplines to help us look like Jesus and in the process, form us into a family. When we study, serve and give we’re worshipping God (giving glory to Him), we’re growing personally (to look more like Jesus) and the results of those disciplines benefit others (for their good). Disciplines like serving and giving make us look more like Jesus, and they shape the lives of the people we serve. When you give financially and serve at Real Life you’re helping students find a friend and safe space to ask questions and grow in faith. You’re helping kids not just learn about Jesus but learn how to get along with others in the church. You’re providing a place where a babies first experience with God is someone besides their parents who is loving them. You’re helping people who come in person or join us online find a place to belong, to explore faith and in some cases, find a family like they’ve never known. That’s why we always want to have a place for you to serve at Real Life and opportunities for you to give. Service isn’t just about getting a job done and giving financially isn’t just about getting the bills paid—these are disciplines close to the heart of God, and He uses them to form us and others. If we want to help every person possible, it takes every person present. Where might God be inviting you to step in or step up?Serve at Real LifeGive at Real Life A Yard at a Time Last Sunday we introduced our next building project: replacing the carpet throughout much of Real Life. We’re going to tackle it a yard at a time. The project works out to about $32 per square yard, and we’ll purchase and install the carpet section by section as funds are available. We’re starting with the Fellowship and Family rooms. If you’d like to help, you can give toward one yard, five yards, ten yards—or any amount. Every gift helps us improve the spaces where people gather, worship, learn, build relationships, and follow Jesus together. You’ve given enough to cover 52 square yards! A yard at a time, we can cover a lot of ground.Help Us Cover A Lot Of Ground This Week's Message "Abba"
Pastor Corey • Galatians 4:1-7 This Sunday in The Names of God, we’ll look at Abba — The God Who Brings Us Home. Jesus first uses the word Abba in Gethsemane, calling out to His Father as He faces the cross. Then Paul tells us that through Jesus, the Spirit teaches us to cry that same name: “Abba, Father.” Jesus did not simply come to forgive us. He came to bring us into His relationship with the Father — not as slaves trying to earn our place, but as sons and daughters who belong in the family. We’ll also look at the story of the prodigal sons and ask what it means to live in the Father’s house without ever really knowing the Father’s heart.
